The geographic conformation of Hungary, with the Danube river that crosses the national territory and the presence of Lake Balaton, makes this region particularly prone to flooding.
The event of 2010 was particularly devastating, causing the destruction of more than 900 homes and resulting in structural damage worth around 20 million euros.
In recent years, atmospheric events such as sudden storms have intensified, with abundant rainfall leading to sudden and high intensity floods: the most recent occurred on June 14th 2020 with serious damage and the death of a person in Tótvázsony, near Budapest .
As a result of these events, Hungary has taken many initiatives for land defense from flood risk, including the choice to equip many villages of tractor driven mobile pumps, used to drain flooded areas.
In 2020, Veneroni company was awarded a public tender for the supply of nine ATR mobile pumps.
